THE GENERALS ON JUNE 5, 1945

JUNE 5, 1945, THE DAY AND YEAR I WAS BORN, THE ALLIED FORCES DECLARED THE WAR OFFICIALLY OVER IN EUROPE.

IT WAS A GREAT DAY TO BE BORN AS IT SAVED OUR FAMILY.

       THE WAR IS OVER

     JUNE 5, 1945

MY GRANDPARENTS DIED ON THE WAY TO THE SIBERIAN  LABOR CAMPS. MY PARENTS SURVIVED 6 ARDUOUS YEARS IN THE GULAG.

NON-WORKERS JUST FROZE TO DEATH IN THEIR BEDS.

THE ONLY THING THAT SAVED ME

WAS A CRIPPLED CHICKEN THAT LAID

AND EGG FOR ME EACH DAY

WITHOUT FAIL. I WAS FORTUNATE. THE SOLDIERS WHO FOUGHT TO SAVE THE WORLD CAN NEVER BE THANKED ENOUGH.

THESE GENERALS LED NATIONS INTO BATTLE AGAINST THE GERMAN ARMIES.

THE FIRST WORLD WAR WAS SUPPOSED TO END ALL WARS BUT IT WAS NOT TO BE.

I REMEMBER, AS A CHILD , RIDING WITH THE U.S. ARMY IN TRUCKS ACROSS EUROPE. THE SAD EYES OF THE SOLDIERS ACROSS FROM ME MADE ME SAD. MY MOTHER COULD HARDLY BELIEVE I REMEMBERED THOSE FACES AT THE AGE OF 2.

THE GENERALS WERE HEROES FOR THAT TIME.
