CRIMINALS AND KIDS

Mickey Cohen ran a haberdashery on Sunset Blvd. He also took over when Bugsy Siegel was killed in Beverly Hills. Apparently Mickey Cohen was asked to raise money for Richard Nixon when he ran for Congress. Murray Chotiner was Nixon's point man and he persuaded Cohen to raise the money from known connected people and gamblers.  The top newspaper columnists were the CNN of the day and continually alerted the public about what was happening. Jack Anderson and Steve Harvey, as well as others, were challenging the mobsters at risk to their own lives.  Cohen raised $25,000 for Nixon.  Mickey Cohen and Jack Ruby were friends. Cohen also had an interest in Horse racing.  When Cohen was inprisoned in Alcatraz he asked to tell his story about Nixon and Chotiner. He was eventually beaten with a metal rod and left crippled.

He came out and said that James R. Hoffa made a deal with the Nixon crew to be let out of Prison for $500,000. dollars. It was the worst deal Hoffa ever made. Cohen said he was tricked to shut him up. His body has never been found.
